How to use Treclin Gel?

Treclin Gel should be applied once each day, preferably during the evening.

Before applying the gel, gently wash the affected area using a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser and carefully pat the skin dry. Once the skin is dry, apply a pea-sized amount and spread a thin layer across the entire area affected by acne rather than applying it only to individual spots.

Avoid getting the gel into the eyes, mouth, lips or inside the nose. Wash your hands after application and allow the medication to absorb fully before applying other skincare products.

As tretinoin can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, it is important to apply sunscreen every morning and reduce excessive exposure to direct sunlight or sunbeds during treatment.

Although some people notice improvements within a few weeks, it may take several weeks before significant results are seen. Continue using Treclin Gel exactly as prescribed, even if your acne appears to worsen slightly during the early stages of treatment, as this is often a temporary part of the skin renewal process.

How long can you use Treclin Gel?

Treclin Gel is usually prescribed for a treatment course of up to 12 weeks, although the exact duration may vary depending on how well your skin responds.

Because the gel contains the antibiotic clindamycin, continuous long-term use is generally avoided to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance. After completing a course, your prescriber may recommend taking a break from antibiotic treatment and using an alternative non-antibiotic acne treatment before considering another course of Treclin Gel if necessary.

• Do not use other retinoid products or harsh exfoliating treatments alongside Treclin Gel unless advised by your healthcare professional, as combining these products may increase redness, peeling and skin irritation.
• Avoid applying the gel to skin that is broken, irritated, sunburnt or affected by eczema, as this may increase irritation.
• Treclin Gel is suitable for most skin types, but certain precautions should be followed to ensure safe and effective treatment.
• Do not use this medicine if you have a known allergy to clindamycin, tretinoin or any of the other ingredients listed in the product.
• Since tretinoin increases sensitivity to UV light, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight whenever possible.
• If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss your treatment options with your prescriber before using Treclin Gel, as it may not be suitable during these periods.

Like all medicines, Treclin Gel can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.

Common side effects
