  • What is Imodium Classic?
Imodium Classic Tablets are a trusted over-the-counter treatment for sudden (acute) diarrhoea. Containing loperamide hydrochloride, they help slow down an overactive bowel, restoring normal movement and reducing the frequency of loose stools.

    How does Imodium Classic work?
Imodium Classic works by slowing down the movement of the gut, allowing more water and electrolytes to be absorbed. This results in firmer stools and less frequent trips to the toilet, providing relief within just one hour.

    • Adults and children over 12 years: Take two tablets initially, followed by one tablet after each loose stool.
    • Do not exceed six tablets in 24 hours.
    • Swallow the tablets whole with water.
    • If symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, stop use and seek medical advice.
  • Like all medications, Imodium Classic may cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Possible side effects include:

    • Mild constipation, bloating, or nausea.
    • Dizziness or drowsiness—avoid driving if affected.
    • Allergic reactions, including skin rash or swelling (seek medical help immediately).
    • Rare cases of severe abdominal pain or difficulty passing stools.

If you experience severe side effects or symptoms worsen, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor.
